You might think improving mental health means you must work with a therapist, review your life experiences with a mental health pro, or take medications.

There’s certainly a place for that and that’s the path you should take if you’re really struggling. But there’s a lot you can do on your own to improve how you respond to stress.

I’ve always been a high-strung person, full of energy but also hypersensitive to my surroundings. After battling anxiety for years, especially during college, I discovered seemingly tiny habits can make a big difference when you’re fighting anxiety.

So today, I want to share with you 5 strange but effective changes I made to boost my mental health. I’m hoping they’ll work for you too. But get ready: they’re not your typical tips, like meditating as soon you wake up. Here’s what I did.
