David, if you talk to low-carbers, they'll tell you that eating any fruit other than berries will spike your blood sugar. But that simply isn't the case.

In fact, there was a study showing that moderate fruit consumption improved insulin sensitivity and lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes, likely due to the fiber and antioxidants in fruit. I'll give you a link to the study below.

Still, I think there are advantages to choosing lower sugar types of fruit, like berries, for the majority of the fruit you eat. They're one of the highest in antioxidants and lowest in natural sugar. So, even if you are more sensitive to the natural sugar in fruit, you should be fine. But there's nothing wrong with eating an apple a day or even grapes in moderation. We'd have far fewer chronic health problems if people ate whole fruit in place of processed snacks.

Also, combining an apple with nut butter can potentially reduce the glycemic response more compared to consuming the apple alone. The fiber and fats in nut butter slow down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates from the apple, leading to a slower and steadier release of glucose into the bloodstream.

Hope this helps! :-) Here's a link to the study I mentioned: https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/diabetes/can-apple-day-keep-type-2-diabetes-bay
