Have you ever chased after relaxation like a firefly on a summer night, only to have it flutter out of reach? I certainly have.

Being somewhat obsessed with fireflies as a child — their soft, intermittent glow, creating a mesmerizing display on warm summer nights.

The same is true of “trying” to relax. The more you struggle to quiet your body, the more relaxation slips out of your reach.

Have you ever experienced this? You lie awake in bed as the clock ticks later and later. The more you tell yourself to sleep, the more awake your feel.

The harder you push, the more the serenity you crave dances just out of reach.

But there is an answer. Rather than striving for calm, embrace mindfulness. Focus on being fully present and allow relaxation to flow naturally.
