I agree with everything you said. We don't know enough about supplements to assume they perform as well as the natural nutrient. As you point out, nutrients can have synergy or they can interfere with absorption or bioavailability of one another.

For example, zinc interferes with copper absorption. There were cases of severe copper deficiency that lead to neurological damage. The reason? Denture cream used to have large quantities of zinc in it, enough to deplete copper. Almost all zinc supplements now contain copper for that reason.

It's much safer to get nutrients from food sources. I really appreciate your insights!
