As someone who spent years balancing a career, fitness goals, and a passion for staying healthy, I’ve discovered my secret weapon for getting it all done — working, eating healthy, and sweating.

The secret? Morning workouts. Once I embraced the benefits of morning movement, it transformed my fitness, but also my entire day!

The Struggle to Exercise in the Morning 🏋️‍♂️

It hasn’t always been this way. Years ago, I was a staunch night owl. I was convinced that squeezing in a quick workout after work was my only option.

And how did that work out? Not well! (to say the least) I was usually drained by the time I picked up dumbbells to do biceps curls or a barbell to eke out a set of squats. I was too tired by the end of the day to give a workout the proper attention to get real results.

Worse, my workouts started to feel like a chore. One particularly hectic week, I missed three sessions in a row and felt tired and a little guilty.

That’s when a colleague recommended morning exercise. “Think of it like a prescription for your day,” she said. That resonated with me! So, I decided to give it a try. I wrote a prescription to myself for working out as soon as I awakened.

The First Humbling Morning 🌄

And how did it go? My first 5 a.m. workout was humbling. I rolled out of bed with my eyes half shut, feeling groggy, and questioning my ability to follow through. Still, I pressed on and laced up my sneakers.

If you don’t know, that’s half the battle — getting ready for a workout! The plus side is if you exercise at home, you don’t need fancy exercise clothes. You can work out in whatever feels comfy.
