The Unexpected Connection Between Mouthwash and Heart Health
Recently, I was talking to a client (I’ll call her Lisa) about her blood pressure. Her BP was stubbornly high, despite her healthy lifestyle. She ate and enjoyed a Mediterranean diet and took regular brisk walks and runs.
You couldn’t fault her lifestyle! She was getting at least 150 minutes of exercise weekly, sleeping well and working on stress management with regular meditation sessions.
Fortunately, her blood pressure wasn’t high enough to require medication, but it was a change from her usual blood pressure readings. Funny how the smallest details can crack a case.
When I questioned her further, she mentioned she had recently been at the dentist’s office. After getting a few cavities filled, she started using an antiseptic mouthwash in hopes of improving her oral hygiene.
